Product Info for UKEMSOL PLM
UKEMSOL PLM is a creamy, pale yellow colored combination of wool grease, paraffin waxes and synthetic hydrocarbons blended together with a weak cationic charge.
UKEMSOL PLM is recommended for use in production and manufacture of semi-stuffed leathers requiring an oil “pull-up”. Unlike traditional hot-air stuffing, UKEMSOL PLM can be used like a normal fat-liquor after re-tanning.
It is suggested that UKEMSOL PLM be added in two(2) feds 20 min apart at a temperature of 60°C(140°F) in a short float 80% water (based on blue shaved weight of leather).
We suggest that UKEMSOL PLM be slowly mixed with water at 70°C to make an emulsion and the cooled to 60°C before adding to the drum.
DO NOT INTRODUCE LIVE STEAM INTO THE MIXTURE, BECAUSE THIS WILL BREAK THE EMULSION.
The preferred method of drying for this leather is paste drying. However, it can also be vacuum dried, wet toggled or hang dried if necessary.
For an even more authentic “hot-stuffed” appearance, the addition of 2-3% MOELLON DEGRAS mixed into the second feed of UKEMSOL PLM is advised.
After drying, the leather should be conditioned, staked and either burnished or ironed on a Finiflex machine to give the necessary “pull-up” required.
The oily “pull-up” look can also be enhanced by the application of our UNIPEL 1461 to the grain surface of the dried leather during finishing.
