Product Info for UNITHANE SX-284 NF

UNITHANE SX-284 NF is a self-crosslinking, NMP free, extremely hard, high gloss, APEO free, waterbased polyurethane dispersion; with exceptional chemical and stain resistance properties. Specifically designed for use in a formulated topcoat for wood, metal, concrete, flooring, and selected plastics.

The self-crosslinking mechanism is based on proprietary chemistry that was developed here at Union. The self-crosslinking chemistry is incorporated onto the backbone of the polyurethane and reacts with itself during film formation to form a permanently bonded network (or crosslink) inside the film. The mechanism will start at room temperature but is accelerated by heat used during film formation. The optimal cure temperature is 60 – 80°C for 1 – 2 minutes.
